SEND Primary Teaching Assistant
We are seeking a committed and compassionate Primary Teaching Assistant to join our team within a specialist provision in Leeds. Role Overview:
As a SEND Primary Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support to students with SEND, ensuring their academic and personal development within the classroom. You will assist in creating an inclusive environment where every child is encouraged to engage and enjoy their school career, promoting confidence, independence, and resilience. Your support will be central to ensuring each student's success.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting Learning: Assist students with their learning and development, providing tailored support to meet their individual needs and ensure academic progress.
Classroom Inclusion: Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to foster an inclusive environment where all students feel valued and supported in their learning.
One-to-One & Small Group Support: Provide targeted assistance to individual students or small groups, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and make meaningful progress.
Behavioural and Emotional Support: Assist in managing behaviour in a positive and constructive manner, supporting students to develop self-regulation and social skills.
Off-Site Learning Support: Accompany students on off-site visits and activities, ensuring their safety and enhancing their learning experiences beyond the classroom.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Experience working with children or adults with SEND, or a background in education
A relevant qualification in Teaching Assistance, SEND, or Care is required.
Patient, adaptable, and proactive, with a strong ability to respond to the varied needs of students in an empathetic and supportive manner.
A genuine passion for supporting children with SEND, along with a proactive and flexible approach to their learning, is essential.
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8.30 AM to 3.30 PM

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
